Presentation Script
With the advent of AI in the workplace, I was asked to explore efficiency gains that might boost the productivity of the design team. Presentation decks had long been a cumbersome task so I focused my attention on how to create them faster from a designer’s perspective while keeping the existing systems and other involved roles in mind.
I started by generating a script that allows designers to place images and text into their own custom designed InDesign page templates. Just like the native Data Merge feature but with more flexibility.

Working with the sales group I showcased and led a transition towards cloud-based versions of software we were all familiar with. The co-authoring abilities led to a dramatic reduction in redundant back-and-forth, faster turnaround times, and an easier time keeping everything centrally organized.

After a few presentations, it became clear that an additional step of converting presentations into a PowerPoint would be beneficial. Designers could design and generate the first draft of a presentation very quickly but any changes had to go through the designer, eating up quite a lot of time. By converting to PowerPoint after the first draft, Sales Reps would receive a well-designed and ready to edit presentation for their final touches and delivery.

After a few more presentations, designers found it difficult to remember all of the intricacies of the script so I created an Adobe panel that helps check for CSV errors, template errors, and has documentation.
